silly drivers

I love watching silly drivers at this time of year. The road my mum lives on is a quiet country road, but gets danjourus at this time of year. What with patches of black ice, fords flooding etc. Yet you get drivers who dont know the road and use it as short cut. these are the drivers I love you get stoped by them to warn you theres a flood, they sit ether side of the ford looking at the water(it's normaly just a bridge till winter)as if mesmerised by it, then stare at you as you drive threw. They end up in the fields haveing driven round a bend to fast and hit ice.
I love it.
Stupid Drivers that shouldn't have cars.

Things I do like about working late

At this time of year working evenings, as much as I enjoy my work can seem a bit urgh. It'S dark and cold and eats into your social life semingly more then in the summer.
However I love the stars and the clear skies. I can pull up out side the house and on a clear night, see all the stars twinkling down. It has the ability to make everything right

Wool Stuff

I realised it has been a while since I have put anything Wool related on this blog, bad Becca. So here is what I am spinning at the moment the white wool is DK for a comparison. Admitidly looks a bit misplaced in the first photo.
It is fine and is still going to be fine when its plyed but it is for a shall I have seen in a couple of editions ago spin off magazine.
The wool is Manx Longhorn which I got from Wingham, admitidly a while ago. I am enjoying spining with this fiber even though I am spining fine.

I also recently recieved some prespun Manx from my Gran when she came back from a holiday there recently it has now become this bear (who has now got eyes)

AUTUMN

I love autumn.
the leaves are lovely colors.
the sun is at an angle that makes it shine threw the trees, making shadows and picturess sceneary.
Then there is the blackberrys (which are realy good this year), mushrooms and elderberries up for the picking.
You have some lovely sunsets and sunrises.
there is the cold frosty crisp mornings that just make me feel alive,
and the mist roling round the hills.

Walking in the woods

Well it is deffently Autumn the leaves are turning and falling and the blackberries are out in full force, and delicious this year.
However with all the changes they keep making in the woods, to sort out the dead and dying from last years fires. I keep losing the paths I follow. Now I admit to just following little trails not big proper paths but still. I have now learnt the best way to find them is to just let Chloe follow some scent trails and spotted the path. It's like life sometimes you need to get lost befor you find yourself.

Vindolanda

Well yesterday me and Si accompanyed by a Soph - who never says no to a day out. Went to Vindolanda, we had a lovely day of sunshine and history. I was very impreased that despite the fact she is only 3, and we took her to look at in her view a pile of stone. Soph only sulked once and enyoyed the day she now wants to be a Roman solder.
I on the other hand was just happy to be out in the fresh air and countryside.

Ginger bread men

My step aunty (well one of them) used to always tell me that the best kind of man was a gingerbread one.
She had many reasons for this, they don't answer back, they are good listeners, don't tell you what you can and can not wear, do , say ,act like.
They also always taste good and if you do get annoyed with him you can always bite his head off.
I'm deffently begining to see what she meant.

Pledge

well I think its about time I went on the pledge. So here goes.

I hereby promise only to use up stash yarns/fiber or yarn/fiber gifts until either my stash is used up, and all my UFOs have been transmogrified into FOs, or Woolfest 2008 arrives.

Exceptions.
1. Other people can buy me yarn, I can buy other people yarn.
2. Swaps are permitted, but only from existing stash.
3. beads, buttons, clasps, shawl pins etc. are allowed but only to complete stash busting projects.
4 gifts must be made from stash.
5. Requests for others will be considered - but yarn has to be in stash or may be bought for the projects by theperson who has requested the object
6.books or magazine/journal subscriptions do not count as stash.

may also be another to deal with fiber and what happens if all fiber has run out, but yarn stash is still in existence. Couldnt cope with nothing to spin.
I also need to work out the details around yarn I spin my self.

Other then deciding I needed to go on the pledge I have had a good weekend I spent Yesterday with pinkphish and Knit nurse watching them dye yarn, and enyoying the sunshine.
Today I have galloped up hills and gone a bit slower down hills and been out for a family meal which is always entertaing.
Now I am off to the woods for a walk befor the sun goes away.

wool fest

Well I have made the blog open to all again. If idiots want to read it they can.
and now on to wool fest, which was a great weekend despite the rain, I also managed not to go to over board.
So here's the pictures.

An old edition of interweve crochet with some lovely skirts in it. The harmony 300 crochet stitches, spin it-a introduction book to spining with spindles and very intrestin it is to. a book on needle felting - and no I don't have time for another hobbie.

buttons from the button lady, pom pom makers, and circular crochet hook yes you did read that right.

on to the wool
some linin and cotton mix - not as gold in real life for a top for me. some wool for crochet socks again for me. sorry hit a me phase in my life. The lovely multy coloured sock wool is for me to learn to knit sock's the lovely pinkphish is going to show me how.

Then the two brown bags the small one containd wenslydale and the larger Gotland fleece the little bag has bunny fur in it. which is so soft.

Over the weekend and despite being the owner of two lovely wheel's, I developed a spindle feetish - who knows why I find it best not to ask myself these questions. so at the top we have a spindle to match my wheels - what more reason do you need . Then we have a little spindle for the bunny rabbit fur which needed a lighter spindle.
Last but not least we have a turkish spindle the cleverness of this will probably be in a futur blog.
So there is my shoping.

I do also have some very nice pictures of the sun set on friday but I fear they to are for a nother blog on another day.
but befor I go here is a gotland sheep for you.

Your Power Element is Wood

Your power colors: green and brown

Your energy: generative

Your season: spring

Like a tree, you are always growing and changing.
And while your life is dynamic, you are firmly grounded.
You have high morals and great confidence in yourself and others.
You have a wide set of interests, and you make for intersting company.

pictures of tree

Perhaps blogger had good reasons not to let me publish the pictures, the next day (yesterday)as it was still snowing no sun to mess up the picture. Although there was not quiet as much snow on the tree as the day befor you get the idea.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

photos

This morning as in most places there was a covering of snow when I woke up, in fact some is still there now.
there is a nice tree just down the field from the house that was also nicely snowy on it's branches, but only on one side. But could I get a decent picture no I couldn't the sun just wasn't helping - wouldn't even go behind a cloud just sat their and stuck out its tong. And now blogger won't even let me load the picture I did get. Oh well I am off to sort out things for work - the neverending to do list is getting attacked.

the planet

taken from glittyknittykitty
The Planet - be a spiritual activist on 1 February 2007
We received this via email:

The Alliance pour la Planète (a grouping of environmental associations) appeals to all citizens to give the planet 5 minutes respite: everybody to extinguish all their lights and illuminations and turn off equipment on stand-by on the 1st February 2007 from 19h55 until 20h00 (CET). The purpose is not just to save electricity for 5 minutes that day, but to draw the attention of citizens, the media and the authorities to the waste of energy and the need to initiate action!

5 minutes respite for the planet: That's not long, it costs nothing and will show our politicians that climate change is something which should figure prominently in political debates.

Why the 1st February? Because that is the day on which the latest report of the United Nations Panel of Experts is to be released in Paris.

Although this event is scheduled to take place in France, we should not miss this opportunity of drawing attention to the global climatic situation.

If we all participate our actions will have great public and political resonance, at an important moment in our political life!

Please make this appeal as widely known as possible in your own circles and networks!

Please also publish it on your websites and in your newsletters.

Lazy Saturdays

Well having not woken up in time to go knitting, ok haveing finaly got out of bed at lunch time due to the smell of bacon sandwhiches. I decided the day was not going to be compleatly wasted doing nothing. Ignoring my huge to do pile (its grown not shrunk this week) Me and si headed into Durham for a walk by the river.
I love walking by the river and always forget how lovely some of the views are. It was also great to get some fresh air and be doing something for me that I find relaxing, especaly after a week that seemed to last forever.
My reasons for not geting out of bed.The Holtzman Effect where playing last night and bar si I havent seen any off them since befor christmass.

Snow

It snowed, ok it wasnt much snow just a light dusting but it snowed. It did also make some of the roads slightly slushy this morning on my way to work.
I also realised its been a while since any finished projects have been shown, I must get into the habbit of putting pictures of finished obects on here.
anyway heres a new scarf for the cold weather

and a close up it is sort of a crochet version of the knitted drop stitch scarf but in very chunky wool.
this is a car seat/buggy blanket for my sisters friend

New Camera

well I finaly decided to upgrade from my phone camera, so hopefully the pictures will now be a bit better quality.
well after a mixed week at work, Busy as everone was back, some good sessions, no change that great sessions, but also a coworker who is trying to drive me nuts, at the moment it seems to be causing her more stress then me, why waste the energy.
I decided that after my ride on sunday I would take the dog for a nice long walk, this got delayed but finaly we got out
only to find that no mater where we went trees where bloking our path.

ever think some things arnt ment to be? Now this wouldn't normaly matter we would just find a way round or over. But today everyone and their dog's where in the woods where we normaly meet noone. Anoyingly offten with dogs not on leeds. I dont mind people not having dogs on leads when they are in control and other dogs/people arnt around. Chloe is only on hers on "proper" footpaths and if someone else is in the woods, but at the slightest hint/sound of another walker let alone seeing someone chloe is back on her leed. and she knows this is often back at my side waiting for it to go on befor i see/here anyone. so we came home and chloe got left over dinner rather then a nice long walk - she was probably happier with this idea.
soory this blog has turned into a bit of a rant

Why do I do it

I hate stitching and joining, a lot. I have projects that will sit for weeks till I force my self to join them together, and I can feel myself slowing down towards the end of a project to try and avoid the joining. I dont know why this is I dont dislike sewing (tomuch) and i enjoy seeing a finished project. Still I hate joining so tell me why did I decide to make a pair of gloves/mittens that need so much joining. The patten is great though and this wool worked well.
